You are here: Home – Chinese Business Cards –
Most commonly used by Chinese is a plain white card – double-sided with English on one side and Chinese on the other.
It is important to have a Chinese card to hand out – whether to Chinese visitors in your own country, or when you travel overseas. It will be embarrassing not to have a card or to only have English on your card.
The business card puts the Chinese in the picture – how senior you are; what your organization is and hopefully does; how to pronounce your name; your qualifications and is a great entry/introduction point for you.
Think about how you would feel presented with cards in Chinese characters only – that's why it's important to prepare a proper Chinese card.
There are some important do's and don'ts with Chinese cards, for example avoid personal names in red fonts as it is associated with death.
Discuss with us a title – we’ll make some suggestions as to what will work better in China.
Make sure that both sides of the card are identical – colours and logo included.
When you are meeting people make sure your cards are at the ready. Shake hands and exchange cards – always use two hands during the card exchange and ensure the Chinese side is facing the recipient.
Receive their card with respect, study it and place on the table in front of you or in a card holder. Never write on it or sit on it.
When you return to your desk, make notes about the card holder – even down to male/female as it may be hard to remember in the future.
Take care to keep a copy of your last card on file - in case in the future you need more or need to change any details. If we look after your cards at Chin Communications, rest assured, we've always got a copy and can make those changes immediately.
