Mandarin Chinese Interpreting -
How To Achieve A Great Meeting Outcome - Advice From The Experts

Don't let this happen to you...A while ago we had a call from an engineering company that had been in negotiations with Chinese for some time. The company was hosting the Chinese party and engaging in some tough talks. Their secretary rang us to see if there was some way we could make the interpreters (who had come from China and were employed by the Chinese side) do the job properly. The Australians were not getting the message across and the interpreting was very one-sided.

It is hard to believe when negotiating for major projects that a company would not protect its interests and put their best foot forward to ensure that they not only won the business, but that there were no hidden traps in what they were agreeing to. Not only that,to save a lot of time and money with talks that proceed smoothly.

How to Make Sure Your Talks Go Smoothly, with no Stuff-Ups due to Poor Interpreting
Call us and We will Guide you: 1300 792 446 (613 8605 4823) or email

Here is our Step-by-Step Guide to Ensuring Successful Talks and no Embarrassing Moments

1. When You Must have Your Own Interpreter

If you are holding an event, engaged in negotiations, meetings, or hosting overseas visitors, or if you are travelling overseas for important business you need to give your deal the best opportunity. Communications will not proceed smoothly or fairly unless you have your own interpreter. Etiquette also demands that your side provide its own interpreter. The other side will protect its own interests with its own interpreter.

LITIGATION IS EXPENSIVE AND CAN RESULT FROM MISCOMMUNICATION

I didn't understand, is not going to get you off. Our clients have shared with us stories of deals that fell through, or resulted in costly litigation because the communications were not understood. And how once they began using our services and obtained accurate and full interpreting, clear deals started to be clinched.

MAKE SURE YOU GET TO HOLD NEXT YEAR'S CONFERENCE TOO

A lot of conference organisers stage annual or frequent events for clients, sometimes involving attendees from many countries and many languages. If you want to make sure you don't get pipped for the next event, you need to provide high quality conference interpreting services for your clients.
If you are:

  • Holding a conference or seminar
  • Engaging presenters who don't speak English
  • Inviting attendees who don't understand English, or you are unsure about English abilities

 - It is important and polite to ensure that everyone can participate by providing interpreter/s.

For a conference involving large numbers of delegates, the best solution is for us arrange specialist conference interpreters and equipment, so that your delegates can listen to everything in real time, no delays - full inclusion. You'll get to arrange the next conference too!

2.Tell us about Your Event - Let us help you to make a great impression

  • Language/s involved
  • The type of event - for example a presentation to Chinese officials, a course of training for visiting delegates, a business meeting, an address to a conference, etc
  • The subject matter
  • The date and duration
  • The location/s
  • The contact person
  • Facilities to be provided: for example microphones, conference interpreting equipment, etc
  • If the booking is for a number of days, a program or itinerary
  • If the service is for a number of visiting delegates - how many, names and titles, where they are from, etc

All of the above is helpful in enabling the appropriate selection and briefing of an interpreter/s.

Don't forget you may need to prepare some written materials in Chinese too. We can help. See translate. Or call us 1300 792 446 or 613 8605 4823 or email

3. Preparing the right interpreter for your meeting - leave it to us to meet your needs

No, not any interpreter or bilingual person will do. Just because someone speaks two languages, or has had a bit of experience doing interpreting is not going to be adequate for an important event or meeting.

You want to know that the person working for you is top notch, will make you look good and won't mess up at a critical point, get the wrong number of zeros on the deal, or not have the required terminology down pat. Once we know your needs and aims, we can select, brief and prepare the RIGHT person to look after your interests - to be your ears and eyes!

We're the specialist Chinese translating and Mandarin interpreting company that many translation agencies turn to for their Chinese translations.

4. What else might you need to do to ensure your event goes off without a hitch?

We will guide you with regard to any special equipment, seating arrangements, procedures, translating powerpoints or handout materials, and provide some tips to working with interpreters that will help ensure smooth sailing. We'll tell you what you need to do as part of interpreter preparations. You'll impress your guests and be fully informed.

 5. Follow ups, outcomes to help enhance your next event

After it's all over, we'd like to discuss how it went and offer you any helpful advice. It may be that you have some follow ups to be done in writing and we'll be able to take these on board for you.
