Confucius famously said: “At 30, I had planted my feet firm upon the ground.”
子曰:“三十而立”
While Li Yu, a Tang Dynasty poet put it thus:
江南江北旧家乡,三十年来梦一场。
South and north of the River, my old home lovely –
Lasting thirty years all this was a dream only!
Well, it wasn’t a dream and our feet are firmly on Australian soil where we’ve been supporting our clients for 30 years on their China journeys. In Australia and overseas – north and south – lovely indeed!
In looking after our clients’ language and protecting their interests, we’ve travelled from Athens to Capetown and on to Chile, from Broome to Hobart, and, of course back and forth between Australia and China.
I have had the pleasure of working with Chin Communications during the last 10 years, both as Trade Commissioner to China 2012-16, as well as in my current role as China Specialist. We were constantly amazed by the professionalism and passion of Charles and his team. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kate, Charles and the team on their outstanding services during the last three decades. They have been an invaluable asset for both Australian and Chinese communities. I look forward to many more opportunities to work with them in the future.

In 30 years, our vocab has changed too – now we Zoom around the world or join Teams and Webex and our work is in the cloud! We chat every day – and now we use WeChat along with some 1.2 billion others. It’s a new language and a new and efficient way to deliver our interpreting services not to mention a new marketing tool.
To keep up with your demands, we purpose built our new offices to accommodate more translators, subtitlers and our new marketing team ten years ago. Like you, we pivoted when Covid struck and whether remote or in the CBD – work goes on uninterrupted; delivery times and quality have been as good as always.
Our translations have kept up with advances in AI and technologies to help with speed and consistency. And the range of language translations on offer has grown from Europe to Africa, to South America, to Asia (of course)!
We broadened our language translation offering – why you should too
Over 60% of webpages on the internet are in English, however English is spoken by only 13% as native; Chinese is spoken by 1.4 billion people; but only 1.4% of the world’s web pages are in Chinese (Wikipedia)! There might be 2 billion people in the world learning English, but – guess what – they will be wanting content in their native languages when they go online. Research shows that people buy in their language. According to research by the European Commission in EU countries, they found that 90% of users choose websites in their native languages and 20% won’t even bother looking at a website not in their language. How to translate your website?
Good reasons to think about where your target audience is. Chin Communications is ready to help!
