“Weixin” to Chinese – the WeChat app is critical to almost every Chinese person – in China and around the world. We use it to do everything from buying goods and services to keeping informed and in touch with everyone (accessed on average over 10 times per day).

It was big news in Australia during the 2019 Federal Election.  Politicians were racing to get their accounts set up and content spread around influential local audiences.  Seats in parliament have been won based on clever WeChat marketing campaigns.  Think about how that could impact your offering or brand.  You can win too!

How to get on WeChat

We suggest you download the app and start familiarising. It has an English menu and even a WeChat translation tool. “Moments” is a good place to state to get a feel for content and find some folks you’d like to follow. You can post in English to get into practice.

How to professionally set up WeChat

As 62% of users only speak Chinese and most of the content is only in Chinese, if you want to do WeChat marketing, Chinese Language capability is first and foremost. You need to open an account and start to build a following. There are several types of accounts and a fair bit of paperwork, so be sure to consult an expert for advice on what best suits your goals (Chin can help). Make sure the account is opened in your correct Chinese business or brand name (registered in China).

Your WeChat Marketing – Content is King

A strategy and goals are important and a budget, so who are you targeting – demographics, are you selling something or building brand recognition, or growing followers?

Chin can assist in the strategy, purpose and direction and write content in Chinese to achieve your aims. It might be you want to target inbound Chinese tourists, local arts audiences, sell milk powder, or run a one-off advertisement – all can be done on WeChat with the right marketing strategy and beautiful copywriting in Chinese.

WeChat Management

Chin can fully manage your WeChat account to deliver your strategy. Working to your budget, we develop a creative approach including:

  • Campaigns to grow engagement
  • Tailored adverts
  • Striking banners
  • Copywritten Chinese articles
  • KOL enlivenment
  • Follower interaction
  • QR Code strategy

All we need from you are images, news, and campaign brief perhaps from time to time. We can do the rest and report regularly on the results.

Dairy Australia successfully launched its WeChat official account in mid June with the excellent work and assistance from the Chin team. The services from the Chin team have ranged from going through the registration process, designing and editing the weekly posts, translating post contents in the formats of text, infographics and videos, providing the background support and account management to putting together a monthly report on the account operation, post uptakes and reviews. In less than two months, our account has attracted over 1,500 followers, with thousands of views of the weekly posts. It has been a great pleasure working with the Chin team, like what we have experienced with the translation and interpretation services during the past 15 years. Let’s keep up the great work in promoting the Australian dairy in China which is our largest export market.
