“It has opened a door for me to work with Chin Communications, an established company providing translation and interpreting services, where I was able to complete over 35 hours of practicum/internship

As an international student, I am extremely honoured to be able to receive this scholarship. There are not many scholarships available for international Master’s students, thus this has been a great opportunity. I am very grateful for this scholarship, which has benefited me in many ways.

Firstly, it has lightened my financial burden on tuition fees. As an international student, it has not been easy trying to manage finances here in Australia, as living expenses are high. While trying to find casual work to earn some pocket money, I also needed to be focused on my studies in order to do well. The intensity of the course demands a lot of self-study and practice outside of the allocated class time. Therefore, although the scholarship does not cover a major part of my tuition fees, it has certainly been of help.

Secondly, it has opened a door for me to work with Chin Communications, an established company providing translation and interpreting services, where I was able to complete over 35 hours of practicum/internship. It has been an invaluable experience to be able to do real work in the industry. It gave me a better idea of the profession that I am currently pursuing through my studies. The work done at Chin Communications is also very good practice for me. Because it is an established company, the volume of jobs they receive is huge and they are often very diverse in topics and fields. I believe this experience will contribute to equipping me to become a professional translator. It was also a great opportunity to get to know my scholarship donor and work with everyone the company.

Thirdly, it has encouraged me to continue striving to achieve academic excellence. It is great to know that your hard work and efforts are being acknowledged, and that kept me going throughout the past semester. It has pushed me to take every assignment and test seriously, making sure I have done my best. Although it has been stressful, I am proud to say that I have maintained an average of Distinction throughout the semester and I am happy with my academic achievements.

Overall, this scholarship has had a substantial impact on my finances, studies and life. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Chin Communications for offering this scholarship.
